CNC Router Page(Please note these pages are a little out of date)Hi and welcome to my CNC router pages. Here you will find a gallery of pictures of my CNC. Scroll down for a description of the picture and a brief specification. For more pictures, click here. Anyway, here is the machine in its natural habitat. The computer mounted on the wall drives the router and is connected to my network via a wireless network box. The large brown box on the wall is the power supply.
The frame is made up of 40mm square aluminium extrusions into which t-nuts slide - the whole thing is bolted together with some M6 cap head screws. Take a look at the components page to see pictures of the bits and pieces used to make the machine. You cannot tell from this picture, but the Y Axis can be moved up and down to change the clearance between the X-Axis bed and the Z-Axis plate, to allow thicker material to be machined. Quick Spec
(*) Stated on the basis of a full step of a 1.8 degree / step motor. (**) There is a planetary gearbox giving a 35.04:1 reduction ratio on the Z-Axis, which is why the single step size is so small. Whether this is a realistic resolution or not is questionable, although having said that, the ballscrew on the Z-Axis is a ground one, believed to be C1 grade. © Copyright 2006-2007 P.Talbot.
